On July 15, 2008 a crop circle appeared adjacent to Avebury Manor, a National Trust property. It is located in Avebury, Wiltshire in southern England, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the home of some famous neolithic stone circles.
The crop circle is a clear depiction of our solar system -- showing the alignment of the planets on approximately December 21, 2012.
If you are of a skeptical bent, then you can double-check the alignment with an astronomy software program, or use an on-line resource such as Solar System Live. Just plug in the date: 2012-12-21 and, voila, you will get something that looks like this:
And, for a side-by-side comparison:
Or, for those of you who, like me, aren't that well-versed in astronomical symbols:
Clearly, whoever or whatever was responsible for the circle (for a discussion of hoaxers, see my earlier post on Suzanne Taylor's crop circle video, What on Earth?) they were clearly drawing our attention to this landmark Mayan date.
But the interesting part is what happened next. A week later on July 22, 2008 the original crop circle was modified and a second circle was added, again, by party or parties unknown:
As you will see from a closeup, the changes were quite significant.......... and highly puzzling:
The first thing you might notice is that the sun in the revised circle has increased significantly in size, engulfing the innermost planets of Mercury and Venus, and coming perilously close to Earth. Now we know that this is going to actually happen some day when the sun becomes a red giant, but that is a long, long, l...o...n...g time from now.
So, what could it mean? Well, one possibility is that it signifies an enormous increase in solar activity, but I'm sure that that is just one of many possibilities. So..........who knows?
The second interesting change is that the revised original crop circle shows what appears to be a planet, comet or asteroid approaching the solar system:
Again, it is hard to know what it signifies, but it sure doesn't look good. Any sizable object entering our solar system would almost certainly have unwanted consequences for us earthlings. Some people see it as a sign for the return of Nibiru or Planet X, but, needless to say, mainstream science disputes the very existence of such a body, much less its "return."
So, again............. who knows?
Even more perplexing is the meaning of the later crop circle, which features a variety of symbols, signs, icons or diagrams, the significance of which is totally up for grabs.......at least for now:
But you don't see these folks fretting about it......... and it's all happening right in their own backyard.
What, me worry?
