Project Camelot was the brain child of Bill Ryan and Kerry Cassidy......and what an offspring it has turned out to be! It is currently going through a rather turbulent adolescence and it's too soon to know what the future may hold......but wait a minute, why don't I back up a bit........to March of 2006.
That's when I first met Bill, who was one of the speakers at the 16th Annual International UFO Congress in Laughlin, Nevada. I was very taken with him, practically from the moment he stepped onto the stage with his now trademark floppy brimmed hat. He was there in his first public appearance to talk, in his charming British accent, about his recently launched Project Serpo website. I was immediately struck by his disarming honesty, lack of pretense, obvious intelligence, integrity, self effacing humility, and palpable sincerity -- traits not always found in abundance in the ufology community.
I was so impressed that I introduced myself to him after the talk and, quickly hitting it off, we retired to a nearby room for a wide ranging impromptu discussion on a variety of topics. In the process we were rather amazed to learn that we had both lived, albeit at different times, in the same tiny Sussex village of Wadhurst (population 7000), located south of Tunbridge Wells.
That was the same day that Bill and Kerry first met (she was interviewing him on camera for her UFO documentary project), and that night I spotted them together at a nearby Mexican restaurant.....clearly they had made a connection.
The next day I took off for a six-week long van camping trip through Baja, Mexico but not before making plans to meet them for lunch in Los Angeles on my return to the U.S. We arranged to meet at a Mexican restaurant (of course) and I remember how excited they were then about their recently hatched idea for a brand new, as yet unnamed, website.
They intended to create a spot where whistle-blowers could, anonymously if they wished, divulge hitherto secret information about advanced technologies, ET contact, UFO's, time travel, earth changes and the like. Kerry was especially passionate about their intention to pay tribute to deceased researchers and, as they later wrote, "activists in paradigm-challenging fields" who had "suffered or been silenced for speaking the truth."
By the time they stopped by for lunch the following September on a trip to the Bay Area, the site, now named Project Camelot, was up and running............big time. They already had some great video interviews posted and they had a number more in the works.
In August of 2009 they themselves were interviewed on camera for the first time. The interview was conducted by Arjan Bos in Amsterdam and gives some interesting personal background on each of them as well as on Project Camelot which, in their eyes, was:
...not about presenting evidence. It's about assisting as many... people as possible to transform how they see the world, and their place in it.
Sad to say, there has been a recent parting of the ways and the original Project Camelot material has now been archived at Project Camelot Library, while all future work will appear either on Kerry's site, Project Camelot Productions, or on Bill's site, Project Avalon. All three sites can be reached through the newly created Project Camelot Portal.
In the next several posts I will provide an annotated guide to each of these extraordinary resources.
