December 21, 2012 is reported by some to mark the end of the fifth and last of a set of five Great Cycles of the Mayan Long Count calendar, thus signifying the end of time .......or at least the end of time as we now know it. Similar prognostications of a major global turning point apparently appear in the archives of other ancient or indigenous cultures, e.g., the Toltec, Hopi, Seneca, Hindu, Quechua, and Maori.
More contemporary predictions for 2012 range from the cataclysmic (Armageddon, a magnetic pole reversal, Return of the Planet Nibiru, supervolcanic eruptions, the Apocalypse, and/or ecological catastrophe) to the sublime (Ascension, the beginning of a new Golden Age, the return of our benevolent space brothers, our admittance into the Galactic Federation, and/or the transformation of global consciousness).
While mindful of the myriad possibilities looming ahead -- both desirable and decidedly undesirable -- I prefer to accentuate the positive. So as I journey through this fascinating landscape my posts will tend to focus more on our potential for global transcendence, and less on our potential for global annihilation......ever mindful that the Law of Attraction might well be at work in the universe.
